2023 Michigan Realtors® District Director Elections

ELECTIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

District Director Elections will utilize the newly adopted Congressional Map. To determine your Congressional District, please search by home address here.

Michigan Realtors® members living in Congressional Districts 1, 2, 5, 10, 11 and 13 with active Member ID numbers as of July 31, 2022 are eligible to vote in this election. Home address determines voting district.

Michigan Directors: There are six districts holding elections this year. Voting will begin on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 and concludes at 11:59 pm on Thursday, September 22, 2022 (the night before the Delegate Body meeting). Questions can be directed to Brian Westrin.

Important Dates

  • Deadline to file for District Director - July 8, 2022.
  • Voting for Directors will open online on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. VOTE HERE
  • Voting will conclude on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 11:59 pm.
  • The nomination process for NAR Director will be announced when the number of open Director Positions is determined by NAR based on July 31, 2022 membership numbers.

How Voting Works

Each REALTOR® member may cast no more than one vote for a candidate for Michigan REALTORS® District Director. A vote cast by a REALTOR® member for a Michigan REALTORS® District Director shall be cast for a director representing the Michigan REALTORS® District in which that REALTOR® member resides. REALTOR® members that reside outside of Michigan shall be able to cast a vote for Michigan REALTORS® District Director for the Michigan REALTORS® District in which the Local Association office building is located.

  • FIND YOUR DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE

The criteria for Michigan Realtors® District Director are as follows:

  • Three years as a Michigan REALTORS® member, and currently a member;
  • Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan;
  • No license law violations that are indicative of moral turpitude;
  • Principal place of residence in the district elected to represent;
  • Demonstrated leadership by one or more of the following:
  • Prior or current director or officer of a local association;
  • Prior or current president of a Michigan REALTORS ® affiliated institute and/or society or council at the state level;
  • Demonstration of participation in the Michigan REALTORS® (i.e., attendance at business meetings, committee meetings, or forums).

If you feel that you or another interested member fit these criteria, please confirm that the interested member lives in a Michigan REALTORS® district that is up for election in 2023. For ease of reference, those 2023 districts up for election are districts 1, 2, 5, 10, 11 and 13. *

Officers (President, President-Elect, and Treasurer) criteria:

  • Three years as a Michigan REALTORS® member, and currently a member;
  • Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan;
  • No license law violations that are indicative of moral turpitude;
  • Current or prior Michigan REALTORS® Director;
  • Nominated by a Current Michigan REALTORS® Director.

2023 NAR Director Elections

This year, the following NAR Director Seats are up for election:

  • Small Board (Qualified Candidates from a board with 1-500 members).
  • Medium Board (Qualified Candidates from a board with 501-1,999 members).

These are three-year terms beginning in 2023 and ending in 2025. The election will take place virtually on September 7, 2022. The deadline to complete an application is August 26, 2022. NAR Directors Criteria:

  • Three years as a Michigan Realtor® member, and currently a member;
  • Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan;
  • No license law violations in the past three years that are indicative of moral turpitude;
  • Demonstrated leadership by one or more of the following:

1.) Prior or current director or officer of a local association or the state association; 2.) Prior or current president of a NAR affiliated institute and/or society or council at the state level; 3.) Demonstration of participation in the National Association of Realtors® (i.e., attendance at business meetings, committee meetings, or forums).
