Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS® Launches Professional Expectations Program for REALTORS®
GRAND RAPIDS -- (March 1, 2010) – The Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS® (GRAR) has announced the launch of a new Professional Expectations Program that is intended to further demonstrate to the buying and selling public that REALTORS® are committed to excellence and quality customer service and can provide valuable insight and expertise into the ever changing West Michigan real estate marketplace.
With its kickoff in late December 2009, The Professional Expectations Program includes the signing of an aspirational pledge that goes above and beyond even the well respected REALTOR® Code of Ethics in focusing upon expectations and standards in the areas of customer care and communication, technology, professional development, risk management, transaction management, and professional relationships.
According to John Postma, GRAR President and the driving force behind the Professional Expectations Program: “I am proud to be a REALTOR® and I am passionate about professionalism and integrity. We have an incredible West Michigan real estate community, but that doesn’t mean that we should stop trying to raise the bar of professionalism. There is no industry, from real estate to the medical field that should ever settle for the status quo. I believe that this new GRAR program provides increased awareness of the value that a REALTOR® brings to a transaction and, at the same time, identifies the essential elements that promote successful real estate transactions and a cohesive and cooperative real estate environment.”
Julie Rietberg, CEO of GRAR, further elaborates on the cooperative nature of the GRAR membership: “This isn’t an Association mandate; rather it’s a voluntary initiative that enables the subscribing broker members to uphold the standards set forth in the pledge. To date, over 800 REALTOR® members have enrolled in the program and countless more have verbally expressed their support of the effort. These REALTORS® believe that, as professionals, we have an obligation to raise that bar of professionalism as high as humanly possible for the benefit of all real estate consumers.”
The Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS® is a regional organization working toward the advancement of the West Michigan real estate community. Its members are also members of the National Association of REALTORS®, America’s largest trade association, representing over one million REALTORS® involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
