Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® Recognized by NAR for New Green Designee Certification
The Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® (TAAR) was recently recognized at the National Association of REALTORS® Conference in New Orleans for their efforts in training members for the new NAR Green Designee certification.
Representatives of the TAAR, Kimberly Pontius and William Costley were on hand in New Orleans to accept the NAR Evergreen Award for Best Course Provider in the nation. The local REALTOR® organization has been recognized many times over the last two years by national leadership in sustainable practices as being a leader in adapting their Multiple Listings Service to account for green or eco-friendly attributes of properties listed in their regional MLS.
“There is only one Evergreen Award presented by the national association in just four categories so being selected as the best among several hundred local and state associations training REALTORS® in understanding green and sustainable practices is a large honor for our region” claims Pontius, the TAAR Executive Vice President.

TAAR's Education and Outreach Manager Bill Costley recently completed a voluntary Green Designation Course, and he is now considered REBAC certified. The Green designee count in TAAR has now reached over 50. Thanks to Bill’s completion of this course, TAAR represents the highest percentage of Green designees to membership of all REALTOR® associations nationwide.
With the addition of membership concierge and Supra program coordinator Lora Nesbitt’s course completion, TAAR is now 100% staff NAR Green certified. This accomplishment is a first for the state of Michigan.
