2018 Michigan Realtors® District Director Elections 

VOTING IS CLOSED.

Michigan Realtors® members living in Congressional Districts 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9(1 year), 10, 12 and 13 with active NRDS ID numbers as of August 21, 2017 are eligible to vote in this election. Home address determines voting district.

Important Dates

  • The deadline for Michigan Realtors® Director candidate filing is Friday, July 14, 2017. CLOSED
  • Voting for Directors will open online on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. OPEN
  • Voting will conclude at Midnight on the day of the Delegate Body meeting.
  • The nomination process for NAR Director will be announced when the number of open Director Positions is determined by NAR based on July 31st membership numbers.


How Voting Works

Each Realtor® member may cast no more than one vote for a candidate for Michigan Realtors® District Director. A vote cast by a Realtor® member for a Michigan Realtors® District Director shall be cast for a director representing the Michigan Realtors® District in which that Realtor® member resides. Realtor® members that reside outside of Michigan shall be able to cast a vote for Michigan Realtors® District Director for the Michigan Realtors® District in which the Local Association office building is located.


The criteria for Michigan Realtors® District Director are as follows:

  • Three years as a Michigan Realtors®  member, and currently a member
  • Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan
  • No license law violations that are indicative of moral turpitude
  • Principal place of residence in the district elected to represent
  • Demonstrated leadership by one or more of the following:
    • Prior or current director or officer of a local association
    • Prior or current president of a Michigan Realtors® affiliated institute and/or society or council at the state level
    • Demonstration of participation in the Michigan Realtors® (i.e., attendance at business meetings, committee meetings, or forums)

 

If you feel that you or another interested member fit these criteria, please confirm that the interested member lives in a Michigan Realtors® district that is up for election in 2018. For ease of reference, those 2017 districts up for election are districts 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, and 13. In addition, district 9 will hold a special election for a one year term. 

 


Officers (President, President-Elect, and Treasurer) criteria:

  • Three years as a Michigan Realtors® member, and currently a member
  • Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan
  • No license law violations that are indicative of moral turpitude
  • Current or prior Michigan Realtors® Director
  • Nominated by a Current Michigan Realtors® Director

The Michigan REALTORS® will have four (4) at large NAR Director Seats up for election for three-year terms beginning in 2018.

 

NAR Directors are voted on by the Delegate Body at the Delegate Body meeting held at the State Convention. This year’s convention is being held September 27 – 29, 2017 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, with the Delegate Body meeting on September 29th at 8:00 am.   

 

  • Three years as a Michigan Realtors® member, and currently a member
  • Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan
  • No license law violations in the past three years that are indicative or moral turpitude
  • Demonstrated leadership by one or more of the following:
    • Prior or current director or officer of a local association or the state association
    • Prior or current president of a NAR affiliated institute and/or society or council at the state level
    • Demonstration of participation in the National Association of Realtors® (i.e., attendance at business meetings, committee meetings, or forums).
