Steps to obtaining your Michigan Real Estate Salesperson License:

  • Complete an approved 40 hour pre-licensure course
  • Apply for your license from the State of Michigan
  • Upon email notification, schedule your exam through PSI Services, LLC at an authorized testing site
  • Confirm an employing broker sponsorship

Michigan Real Estate Continuing Education

Michigan Real Estate Continuing Education Requirements:

In order to maintain your license, you must obtain 18 credit hours of continuing education every 3 year licensing cycle with a minimum of 2 law specific credit hours per year. 

Those who have received a new license as of 8/2020, or those who had renewed a license effective 11/1/2021 have now been assigned individual expiration dates based on your original license issue date. Your newly assigned month and date of expiration is your deadline each year moving forward in regards to law specific credit deadline and renewal every three years.

Please note: The State of Michigan is no longer approving continuing education courses or tracking continuing education credits on behalf of Licensees. Beginning November 1st, 2018, all continuing education courses that count towards licensee renewal requirements must  be certified by CE Marketplace. CE Marketplace provides a basic tracking service, free of charge, to assist you in finding certified course content and keeping a list of your CE Marketplace certified credit history.

Obtaining a Michigan Real Estate Broker License

In order to apply for a Michigan Real Estate Broker License, you must first have at least 3 years of full-time experience as a real estate salesperson, or equivalent experience. Once you are ready to obtain a broker license, you will need to complete 90 clock hours of approved coursework required within 36 months of application, unless licensed continuously and pass an exam administered by PSI Services, LLC.

Experience: At least 3 years full time experience as a real estate salesperson, or equivalent experience.
Continuing Education: 18 hours every 3 year cycle with a minimum of 2 hours of law per licensing year based on your individual date of expiration.
